The newest store brand of Ralphs supermarkets in California.
A 20-ounce loaf of Smart Way bread in Southern California costs 99 cents.
The launch of the Smart Way private label was announced by Kroger Co. in September 2022. The brand was developed as a response to inflation.
UPDATE: As of October 2022, the price of a loaf has been hiked 30 percent to 1.29.
ANOTHER UPDATE: As of August 2025, the price of a loaf is 1.49 !
Smart Way merges 16 legacy Kroger brands and brings over 150 products under one label, joining names like Kroger Brand, Simple Truth, Private Selection, Home Chef and Heritage Farm.

- Smart Way™ Round Top Wheat Bread
- Smart Way® Sandwich Buns
- Smart Way Hot Dog Buns
