Recipes for bramble, kremlin colonel, rusty nail, dark n stormy

1. Bramble

A modern classic created in the 1980s by Dick Bradsell. It is a fruity, sharp, and refreshing gin cocktail.

Spirit: Gin | Glass: Old Fashioned (rocks glass) | Garnish: Lemon slice and blackberries

Ingredients:

  • 2 oz (60 ml) Gin
  • 1 oz (30 ml) Lemon juice (freshly squeezed)
  • 0.5 oz (15 ml) Simple syrup
  • 0.5 oz (15 ml) Crème de Mûre (blackberry liqueur)

Instructions:

  1. Add the gin, lemon juice, and simple syrup to a shaker filled with ice.
  2. Shake well and strain into a glass filled with crushed ice.
  3. Slowly pour the Crème de Mûre over the top of the drink so it bleeds down through the ice.
  4. Garnish with a lemon slice and fresh blackberries.

2. Kremlin Colonel

A twist on the classic Cuba Libre (Rum & Coke), swapping the spirit for vodka to give it a Russian spin.

Spirit: Vodka | Glass: Highball | Garnish: Lime wedge

Ingredients:

  • 2 oz (60 ml) Vodka
  • 4–5 oz (120–150 ml) Coca-Cola
  • 0.5 oz (15 ml) Fresh lime juice

Instructions:

  1. Fill a highball glass with ice cubes.
  2. Pour in the vodka and fresh lime juice.
  3. Top with Coca-Cola.
  4. Stir gently to combine.
  5. Squeeze the lime wedge over the drink and drop it into the glass.

3. Rusty Nail

A sophisticated, slow-sipping drink known for its strong, smoky flavor profile.

Spirit: Blended Scotch Whisky | Glass: Old Fashioned (rocks glass) | Garnish: Lemon twist (optional)

Ingredients:

  • 1.5 oz (45 ml) Blended Scotch Whisky
  • 0.75 oz (22 ml) Drambuie (Scotch honey liqueur)

Instructions:

  1. Add the Scotch and Drambuie to a mixing glass with ice.
  2. Stir for about 30 seconds to chill.
  3. Strain into a glass filled with fresh ice.
  4. Garnish with a lemon twist.

4. Dark ‘n’ Stormy

The national drink of Bermuda. It is a highball cocktail famous for its spicy ginger kick and dark rum depth.

Spirit: Dark Rum | Glass: Highball | Garnish: Lime wedge

Ingredients:

  • 2 oz (60 ml) Dark Rum (Gosling’s Black Seal is traditional)
  • 4–5 oz (120–150 ml) Ginger Beer (must be spicy)
  • 0.5 oz (15 ml) Fresh lime juice

Instructions:

  1. Fill a highball glass with ice cubes.
  2. Pour in the ginger beer first.
  3. Slowly float the dark rum on top by pouring it over the back of a spoon.
  4. Squeeze the lime wedge into the drink and drop it in.
  5. Stir gently before drinking.
