1 c shelled pili nuts
2 c water
2 c sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
pinch of salt

Toast peeled pili nuts until light brown. Grind. Put sugar and water in a saucepan and cook into a thick syrup. Add the ground pili nuts, vanilla and salt and continue cooking until a little amount hardens when dropped in a cup of water. Remove from heat and flatten into a thin sheet on a slightly greased cookie pan. Cut while warm into desired shapes. Wrap individually in waxed paper.

Peanuts, coconut, cashew, jackfruit or corn may also be used.
